On today’s Minute: Last weekend was Ixalan prerelease weekend, except for in areas impacted directly or indirectly by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Ixalan pre-releases are now behind us, or at least for most of us, as product finally makes its way to Latin America and the Caribbean after a series of devastating storms stranded the new set in Miami. Many stores, especially those in Puerto Rico, have yet to reopen after the destruction wrought by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Gaming Zone in San Juan, Puerto Rico is among the Caribbean stores which, according to a statement on Facebook, will remain closed until further notice.

For those who attended prereleases around the globe the response to Ixalan seems to be overwhelmingly positive. The themes of pirates and dinosaurs inspired many players to show up in costume. The limited format also seems to have been a hit with plenty of players looking forward to upcoming game day and draft weekend events.

If you missed out on the prerelease you’ll be counting down the days to Ixalan’s release this coming weekend, which will be accompanied by two team limited Grand Prix events in Providence, Rhode Island and Shizuoka, Japan.

If you’re too impatient to wait for the paper release on Friday, you can play Ixalan on Magic Online starting today.
