Do you remember the War of the Spark trailer? No, not that one—the teaser trailer! That trailer featured incredible stained glass planeswalkers art in the windows of a spire in Ravnica. That artwork was then fully revealed over at Daily MTG, where Wizards also said that the stained glass art wouldn’t be printed on the actual cards.
That meant you couldn’t actually play with cards featuring those unique art styles…until now. In the May 16th State of the Beta for MTG Arena, Digital Product Manager Lee Sharpe revealed a five-week long campaign called War of the Spark Chronicles that would bring the stained glass planeswalker art to MTG Arena as card styles for all 36 planeswalkers in the set (excluding the Tezzeret buy-a-box promo).
The 36 planeswalker styles will be acquired in three different ways. 15 of them will be available in week-long events called War of the Spark Sagas (the first of which is already underway). You’ll be able to win three each week by playing in free-to-enter constructed events and reaching three, nine, and 15 wins. (Update: for the final two events, the card styles are unlocked at 3, seven, and 10 wins.) The rest of them will be available either in the card style shop for gems or by promotional codes that can be redeemed in the shop.
