Hall of Famer Gabriel “Yellowhat” Nassif won Week 5 of Fandom Legends’ $4k MTG Arena tournament series Thursday evening, defeating Frank “Truedawn” Moon in the finals.
Nassif brought a unique spin on Sultai Midrange to the event, choosing to include a diverse set of planeswalkers over more traditional suite of removal spells. He went 4-1 in the swiss rounds and defeated Magic Pro League member Reid Duke in the quarterfinals and Daniela “h0lydiva” Diaz in the semifinals. Nassif met Frank “Truedawn” Moon and his Gruul Midrange deck in the finals and quickly lost Game 1. But he battled back to win Game 2 and then stabilized at one life in Game 3, winning the tournament and $1,200.
