FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Whimsy, Wonder & War: A Magic Art Show to open at IX 12

Exhibition Dates: October 24th, 2019- October 27th, 2019

Exhibition Location: Schmidt Gallery, Goggleworks Center for the Arts, Reading PA

May 13, 2019- The Magic Art Show team has announced their third exhibition of original Magic art, entitled Whimsy, Wonder & War: A Magic Art Show, which will open alongside the IX Main Show at IX 12 this fall in Reading, PA. The show will run from October 24th, 2019- October 27th, 2019.

The exhibition, the first of its kind on the East Coast, will feature over 60 pieces of original Magic: The Gathering art from more than twenty past and present Magic artists. The narrative will explore the themes of whimsy, wonder and war within the game of Magic, how these topics interact and inform, and how they connect to the thousands of works of art created for the game.

A majority of pieces on exhibition will be available for purchase from their original artist.

In addition, the Magic Art Show will host the inaugural 4x4s for a Cause event, presenting 49 painted planeswalker 4 inch by 4 inch panels, done by current Magic: the Gathering artists. These works will be sold throughout the weekend and exclusively at the show, with all proceeds going to fuel a new foundation, Big Wizzard, whose mission is “to increase access and equity to young artists.” This new foundation is the formalization of community based fundraising activities that have occurred by Magic Art Show team organizers since 2015.

Tickets for IX 12 are on sale now. A 5 Day Pass is $190, a Student 5 Day Pass is $90, and a Weekend Pass is $70. Single day tickets are limited and available at the door for Saturday and Sunday only at $30 each. Children under 16 admitted free with accompanying adult.

About The Magic Art Show: The Magic Art Show held its debut exhibition at Grand Prix Las Vegas in 2017, and was instrumental in creating the art exhibition of MTG Japan’s 25th Anniversary Celebration in Tokyo in 2018. They seek to engage audiences with the art of the game, reaching beyond the box on the card via interpretation and meaning-making experiences.

About IX Arts: Founded in 2008 by Pat & Jeannie Wilshire, IX is the first, ground-breaking art show, symposium, and celebration dedicated solely to imaginative realism—bringing artists, students, collectors, and art fans together for an annual gathering intended to inspire and create further awareness and zeal for imaginative realism and all that’s encompassed in the realm of the fantastic.
