Welcome honored guests to the ceremony for the 2018 Steamflogger Union Labor Day Award for Excellence in Work brought to you by a generous donation from the Nicol Bolas Multiplanar Corporation. This year’s winners represent a range of the hardest-working folk across the planes and while they aren’t compensated fairly or treated justly we’re here to drink to their labor and pray that they never rise up against us!

Labor Day, for those who aren’t familiar, is an American holiday celebrating the common worker. So today we’re looking for the top common working-creature in the past year of Magic sets. We’re looking for hard-working and dedicated common folk just like you and me, trying to get by in a world full of greedy corporate dragons who just want to eat them and spit them out.

So, without further ado, let’s present the 10 nominees for the 2018 Steamflogger Union Labor Day Award for Excellence in Work!

Our first nominee comes to us from the Tolarian Academy on Dominaria. The Journeymage can spend anywhere from a half-dozen years to half-a-lifetime trying to advance to Master Mage which sounds like a perfectly well-run union if you ask me.

What’s not to love about this angelic aide who supports your warriors and soldiers in their time of need?

This devout fool has to put in three weeks of overtime each pay period just to finish his morning creed!

If only we could power all of the multiverse’s energy sources with the rage of Goblin-kind.

This pirate knows what he wants and knows how to get it. Don’t cross him in the break room.

Gallantry is a fine quality in a union worker but so is bringing an equally qualified worker into the union.

Welcome back, friend.

Some of the most underappreciated laborers are the ones you never see on the front-lines.

The quality that best defines a manager is getting the most production out of your co-workers.

This wizard shows up with a flash and a bang and is never late for a shift.

The Winner

And the winner of the 2018 Steamflogger Union Labor Day Award for Excellence in Work goes to, Skirk Prospector! Unfortunately the prospector is putting in overtime in the mana mines this week so accepting this award on behalf of Skirk Prospector is everyone’s favorite task-master: Steamflogger Boss!

That’s all for this year! Once again we’d like to thank our patron Nicol Bolas for the generous donation that made this award ceremony possible. Happy Labor Day everyone!
