On today’s Minute: A federal judge dismissed Paul Yale’s lawsuit claiming that Magic judges are Wizards employees, plus there are two Limited GPs this weekend!

Yesterday, a Federal court in California dismissed the class-action lawsuit brought by Magic judge Paul Yale against Wizards of the Coast. Yale alleges that he and other Magic judges are in effect employees of Wizards and should be compensated as such. However, the court said that the judge program is explicitly voluntary and the non-guaranteed compensation of Magic product doesn’t constitute a wage, both key parts of forming an employee-employer relationship. Yale now has 30 days to amend his suit with additional facts. You can read Hipster’s coverage of the decision at hipstersofthecoast.com.

There’s also a second suit by Judges claiming to be Wizards employees still working its way through the courts, which many believe has a higher chance of impacting the Magic community. Stay tuned to Hipsters for any new developments in either case.

There are two Limited Grand Prix on the slate for this weekend in Indianapolis and Metz, France. The Hour of Devastation sealed and draft formats have been very well-received by players, especially after the insanity that was the Amonkhet format. Coverage of GP Indy starts at 10am Eastern Saturday morning at twitch.tv/magic
