Heaped up on the floor, to form a kind of throne, were turkeys, geese, game, poultry, brawn, great joints of meat, sucking-pigs, long wreaths of sausages, mince-pies, plum-puddings, barrels of oysters, red-hot chestnuts, cherry-cheeked apples, juicy oranges, luscious pears, immense twelfth-cakes, and seething bowls of punch, that made the chamber dim with their delicious steam. In easy state upon this couch, there sat a jolly Giant, glorious to see; who bore a glowing torch, in shape not unlike Plenty’s horn, and held it up, high up, to shed its light on Scrooge, as he came peeping round the door.

“Come in!” exclaimed the Ghost. “Come in! and know me better, man!”

—Charles Dickens, “A Christmas Carol”

There are few things more evocative for me about Christmas than the smells and tastes of the decadent foods and sweet treats given especially to children during the season—navel oranges, peanuts and peanut clusters, candy canes, decorated cookies, and eggnog—and the Chocolate Santas, Christmas pies, and hard strawberry candies. This pack is an ode to memories of abundance and to the spirit of the table that is open to all, especially, as Scrooge’s second ghost says,  those who need it most.

This food-themed pack hopes to bide its time until it can resolve Trail of Crumbs, sacrifice food, gain life, draw cards, and find either Feasting Troll King or the necessary mana sources to cast him! A recursive, vigilant, trampling troll is nothing to sneeze at, and victory tastes that much sweeter when it comes with three food tokens. The color requirements of this pack mean that it pairs best with other green or green-white packs, like those featured over the past few days. Bon appétit à tous!
