It’s officially been one week since the Mastery Pass came to Magic the Gathering Arena and I’ve somehow managed to win three games of Magic every single day. I mostly credit this to my mono-red burn deck which remains completely unchanged since Magic Core Set 2020 went live. It turns out it’s still a powerful enough deck to at least get me into the gold tier of the ranked ladder. We’ll see if it can push me further.
I picked up three wins and a quest completion to vault me up to level 14 with 600/1000 experience points required to reach level 15. I netted another pack from the premium Mastery Pass (+200 gems in pack value) and called it a quick night. Nights like these where I only have a brief window between putting the kid to bed, taking care of chores, and going to bed, its nice to only feel like I need to win a handful of games and then log off.
Before I wrap up today’s journal I do want to throw out a quality of life improvement idea. I’m sure I’m not the only one to suggest this so far but I haven’t read it anywhere else: Can we get wildcard packs? This can mean one of two things:
- A special wildcard that can be redeemed for one of any Standard-legal booster pack
- A special pack that only contains wildcards
Either of these would be pretty cool rewards on the Mastery Pass even if they only appeared once and at higher levels. I’m just a bit sick of being told which packs and cards I’m allowed to have as prizes. I have enough packs of Ravnica Allegiance and not nearly enough Ixalan in order to round out my collection, but it is what it is.
