For those of you who don’t know, I’m also an artist outside of my magic life, or I guess also as part of my Magic life since when I’m not overwhelmed with the rest of life I alter cards.  There is some REALLY beautiful art in Shadows over Innistrad that has me hoping to get my hands on some to create beautiful border extensions, so today I’m going to point out my favorites.

Relentless Dead

This card is beautiful how it is but can’t you imagine this without a border? It would look so much more dramatic! Continue on the pews a little bit more, even darkening it to the outside it would really help the center of this already dramatic card.

Angel of Deliverance

This card is drop dead gorgeous on it’s own but I would really love to continue just the wings onto the rest of the card.  She’s so beautiful on her own and she should just overwhelm the card with her presence.

Trail of Evidence

I love the landscape on this card, it’s so beautiful.  Stopping it for the ugly border is a travesty at best.

Sigarda, Heron’s Grace

Another example of cut wings that bother me.  How much better would this card look if no part of Sigarda was cut off?

Odric, Lunarch Marshal

Wizards you keep having artists design these great characters but then cut off part of them and it breaks my heart.  I just want to finish the sword, which might be more of an OCD thing than an artist thing but I want to extend it nonetheless.

Eerie Interlude

Despite not really playing white I’m really into the art on white cards.  I find the art on this card, well eerie and I love it.  I want the whole card just to be come the clouds she falling into.

Lambholt Pacifist

I don’t know how altering a double sided card would go but I want to do it and I think this would be the perfect card.  I love the juxtaposition between the two images and would love to do something to tie them together.

Basic Forest 207

Yup, a basic forest.  Anyone who has seen my work knows my love for painting certain kinds of trees and this is one of them.

There is some really beautiful art in this set and now we just have to convince Wizards to get a pretty border! Or at least one that’s easier for me to paint over or remove!

Kate hails from Worcester MA and also does a bit of Card Altering. Check her Stuff out on Facebook! She mainly plays legacy and modern though will occasionally find herself playing EDH or Standard if she’s desperate!
