2016 World Champion and Magic Pro League member Brian Braun-Duin won Week 14 of Fandom Legends’ $4k MTG Arena tournament series Thursday evening, defeating fellow MPL member and 2018 World Champion Javier Domínguez.
Braun-Duin played his trademark Esper Hero deck with a single Bolas’s Citadel in the main deck. The deck still focuses on Hero of Precinct One and a full suite of multicolor cards, with a large emphasis on Planeswalkers and removal spells. This week was the first Fandom Legends tournament with the new cards from Core Set 2020, but Braun-Duin played just one card from the set: two copies of Temple of Silence.
Braun-Duin defeated MPL member and Hall of Famer Gabriel “yellowhat” Nassif on Azorius Fliers and Team Solo-Mid (TSM) streamer Kenji “Numot” Egashira on Temur Elementals in the semifinals. He then defeated Domínguez, who was also on Temur Elementals, 2-0 in the finals.
