Magic: The Gathering in Miniature III Artist Proof Exhibition to open at Nucleus

October 24, 2025—Gallery Nucleus and Guest Curator Donny Caltrider have announced that Magic: The Gathering in Miniature, the third gallery show of Magic: The Gathering Artist Proofs, will open on January 31, 2026 onsite at Nucleus in Alhambra, CA. The show will run until February 15th, 2026 within the gallery, and for the following year online.
On the occasion of Magic: The Gathering’s 33rd year, the exhibition will present 333 sketched and painted APs illustrated by 111 different artists of the game. The work on display will highlight all matters of Magic, from interplanar planeswalkers to legendary landscape, and on a variety of rare and sought-after Magic: The Gathering cards.. All works on display will be available to purchase, with prices beginning at $300. The exhibition will also serve as the artist proof debut for nearly a dozen artists, including Gary Baseman, Greg Manchess, Feifei Ruan, Erol Otus, and more.

The artist proofs will again be displayed using the Frameamajig from Hit Point Press, a fully interchangeable framing solution featuring high quality wood moulding and custom magnetic one-touch holders.

An opening reception will be held at the gallery on Saturday, January 31, 2025 from 5pm-8pm PST. No RSVP is required.

About Guest Curator Donny Caltrider: Donny Caltrider is an art agent, writer, and independent curator working in the Imaginative Realism genre. He previously guest curated two shows of Magic: The Gathering artist proofs at Nucleus in Los Angeles, CA in 2023 and 2024. As an agent, he represents artists working on Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons, with more than thirty artists under advisement at any given time in varying capacities. He is the Chief Operations Officer at Hipsters of the Coast.
About Magic: The Gathering Artist Proofs: Artist Proofs are Magic:The Gathering cards printed with a white back instead of the standard design found on regular cards. They are exclusively issued to the artist of that card, and while some artists only sign their cards, many artists will also draw on the white back to create an original piece of artwork. Their rarity along with their connection to the artist that designed the card make these pieces highly sought after by fans of the game.
