The Edge of Eternities Pre-Release is fast approaching, and the set is looking to be yet another fun time. It’s been a while since I got to try my hand at one, but looking at all of the cards available, I’ve picked out five commons and uncommons that I’m looking to get in my sealed pools!

Seam Rip

Removal is often not the prettiest or shiniest cards for your flair, but you’ll always wish you had them when you need them. Seam Rip is a low investment removal spell in a format where cheap, aggressive creatures may end up getting out of control quickly. Having one or two of these as a check can really help drive your own gameplan home in a cost efficient manner.

Cerebral Download

I love me a good ol’ draw three, even if there aren’t that many artifacts in the set to enable a strong Surveil. Slower decks will need a way to bridge the gap in their gameplan, and this is looking like one of the cards to do it. Being splashable is the real draw here, which may allow decks that need this the most to really take advantage of the decent amount of mana fixing this set has to offer.

All-Fates Scroll

Speaking of artifacts, mana fixing, and drawing cards…

Now, as much as I would love to live the dream and draw a bunch of cards because I got lucky and got four shock lands in my pool, that isn’t the big deal here. Three mana is a bit expensive for a mana rock, but what better way to add more reinforcement to Cerebral Download’s bridge than with All-Fates Scroll. Whether you need to shore up your curve a bit, or you have more than a couple multicolored game enders like Syr Vondam, the Lucent or Mutinous Massacre and just need to get to them quickly, All-Fates Scroll has got you.

Syr Vondam, the Lucent

Yeah, I spoiled it a bit. Syr Vondam is easily one of the best uncommon creatures you can get. If your deck is even a little bit aggressively slanted, you can potentially see game winning swings with Syr Vondam. While white hosts quite a few of said aggressive creatures, black is no slouch in this regard either. Even so, I believe it’s worth splashing, possibly double, if you have the fixing to support it. It’s that good.

Drill Too Deep

My vote for one of the best commons in the set, modular cards that function as both support and removal are worth a lot in my book. Being able to get one of your spacecrafts online much more quickly (without tapping a creature to boot) is of high value if you’re in that archetype. Conversely, being able to quickly and efficiently shut down other problematic spacecrafts makes this a welcome addition to most decks that can support red.

Honorable Mention – Haliya Ascendant Cadet

While I’m not as high on Haliya as I am on the other aforementioned cards, You can very easily run away with games with this huge threat. Five mana isn’t terribly competitive in this set when it comes to aggressive cards in green and white, so affording a splash for something like this is worth it for sure. Being able to keep the momentum going if you do get a hit in is just icing on the cake here.

This set is going to be a blast to pre-release with. Between Spacecrafts, great multicolor cards to consider splashing, and a ton of exciting rares and mythics, Edge of Eternities is looking to be one of the more interesting sealed sets to learn and play!
