This Week’s Videos

Dunk of the Week

So I know that the dunk of the week last week revolved around a sweet Anger of the Gods. This week’s Anger of the Gods was decidedly less sweet but, like, still pretty goddamn sweet. Killing three mana dorks with one Anger of the Gods just makes me feel all tingly inside.

Punt of the Week

Not only did I get Squelched but I got Nimble Obstructionist-ed. I was amused by the whole exchange but make no mistake, I got wrecked by these seldom played “gotcha” spells.

Final Record and Closing Thoughts

ROUND ONE – GR Ponza (2-1)
ROUND TWO – Storm (0-2)
ROUND THREE – Counters Company (2-1)
ROUND FOUR – Mono Blue Tron (2-1)
ROUND FIVE – Jeskai Nahiri (2-1)

After weeks of 3-2 finishes, we finally managed to go 4-1. I’m not sure these five matches are representative of the metagame as Mono Blue Tron is a rogue list, Nahiri has fallen out of favor in control builds, and GR Ponza—while certainly up and coming—occupies a small percentage of the overall metagame. Having said that, in Modern one has to expect playing against random brews and it’s nice that Breach Titan has a proactive enough gameplan to take down some of the format’s outliers.

PS – The screaming in the background was actually a child that my roommate was babysitting and not one of my roommates. Sorry Chad.

PPS – Don’t ask your opponents to play faster on MODO. There is a chess clock for a reason and given that League matches can be played pretty much whenever, the whole “you’re wasting my valuable time” argument feels kind of silly.
