Kaladesh, the home plane of Chandra Nalar, is of particular interest because, while the names of the places and characters in Chandra’s story strongly imply an Indian-inspired plane, Chandra and the people in her story are all portrayed as white. How did a character with an obviously Indian-inspired name (Chandra Nalar) come to be red-haired and light-skinned? Or is there more to this plane and its inspiration than we realize?
